Skincare's Big Thing in 2023

Updated: Jan 10, 2023

The goal for every skincare routine is to have healthy glowing skin, right? The skincare industry generates billions in sales and is not slowing down any time soon. With the new year, you can expect new and better products, treatments, trends and ingredients. Whether it's new skincare active ingredients that will destroy wrinkles or creating a cost effective line of products mirroring the products we love, together let's take a look at what trends are to come in 2023.

Protect Your Skin Barrier

Going into the new year, skincare brands celebrated with a launch of new products. Brands like Biossance, Farmacy, and Charlotte Tilbury came out with new products in the last month. Peptides and toners were popular new products big name brands came out with but one thing all these products have in common is using an acid-free gentle formula. In 2023, the industry is saying goodbye to alcohol, benzoyl peroxide, fragrances and other harsh chemicals in products. All ingredients that dry out or irritate our skin's barrier are going to be replaced with natural active ingredients that are gentle on our skin.

More Means No

We are ecstatic to hear that the trend of having a 10 step skincare routine has faded and hope it's gone for good. Instead of having to buy and use 10 different products, minimize your routine by researching the ingredients that will work for your skin and go from there. I have skincare routine post below you can use as reference.

Using too many products will do the reverse of what you want it to do for your skin, it will dry it out, clog your pores or irritate it. The skincare industry is growing in products that will hydrate your skin and leave you with a glowing look. In 2023 we are keeping it simple; hydrating moisturizer with active ingredients, multi-use serums, pH balanced toner and acne prone cleanser. For sun protection, use a tinted moisturizer with SPF to finish with a glowing, natural look.

Best Bang for Your Buck

Everyone has more access to skincare information now; with blogs, dermatologist sites and Google, everything you need to know about products and ingredients is at your fingertips. Since skincare education is easier to obtain, we are looking for quality and effective products at a reasonable price.

This year we are researching ingredients and finding which ones will give you the results you're looking for. Marketing and branding can be deceiving so the more you know about what products your skin type needs, you'll be able to create an amazing skincare routine and stick to it to see maximum results.

The Pro's are Here

Dermatologists are taking over the spot light from celebrities coming out with their own skincare lines. Social media has made it possible for doctors like Shereene Idriss (Pillowtalk Derm) and Whitney Bowe (DWB) to become household names for credible skincare advice. These skincare lines are selling out because they come with 3 or 4 step routines that target the specific results people are looking for. Like we said earlier, it doesn't take ten products to achieve the look you want and we expect to see a lot more publicity from dermatologists this year.

Knowing just a little about what's to come in 2023, we are excited for clean products from reliable brands that will give us real results, without breaking the bank.
